The All India People’s Science Network (AIPSN) organizes the XVIIth All India People’s Science Congress (AIPSC) in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh on June 6-9, 2022 which got delayed by 2 years due to Covid 19 pandemic with the Central Theme – The Idea of India. The Congress will involve participation of 400 delegates from across the country and shall address issues related to science and technology, clustered into different thematic areas. Delegates to the congress will represent a spectrum of representation, including scientists, academics, policy makers, activists working at community levels, etc.
The Congress is being held against the background of an extraordinary situation due to the Covid 19 pandemic and for the Peoples Science Movement. COVID-19 has had a severe influence on billions of people who are all fighting for lives to be saved, families to be supported. During these exceptional circumstances, AIPSN’s role in combatting the Covid 19 and its impact on society’s most vulnerable groups has become critical, particularly in distant places where government services are strained.
The Indian Constitution and its core values of secularism, pluralism, non-discrimination and equality of all before the law, social and gender justice, are becoming extremely important. The values constitute the Idea of India forged by the national movement for Independence, with participation of various political streams and people of all communities. Planned socio-economic and industrial development, with a major role for self-reliant science and technology (S&T) and a scientific attitude among the people, were also integral to these ideals and the path charted by our young Republic through its early post-independence decades. The All India Peoples Science Network is committed to these ideals and considers them to be essential for the future of India.
